Calgary to Vancouver Movers: One Written Quote, in Either Direction
Moving from Calgary to Vancouver, or from Vancouver to Calgary? Men In Trucks has a team in each city. Ask the team in the city you are leaving for one written flat quote, built from what you are moving, the access at both ends and your dates. Two offices, one quote: which team handles your move
Men In Trucks Moving Inc. was founded in Ottawa in 2010. Calgary and Vancouver are new cities for us, so this page shows no route history, testimonials or job counts. It explains how a move between the two cities is quoted, planned and confirmed.
Leaving Calgary for Vancouver
Send it to our Calgary team with the Calgary quote form: the pickup can be anywhere in the City of Calgary or in a Calgary-area community listed in the form.
Calgary office: 330 5th Avenue SW, Suite 1800, Calgary, AB T2P 0L4

Leaving Vancouver for Calgary
Send it to our Vancouver team with the Vancouver quote form: the pickup can be anywhere in the City of Vancouver or in a Vancouver-area community listed in the form.
Vancouver office: address and email on our Vancouver movers page
Phone (778) 200-0116
With two offices on this route, the rule is simple: the one that gets your request prepares your quote. We add the other office to the request so the Calgary and Vancouver teams can coordinate, but there is only ever one booking, and one office for you to deal with. You can arrange a move by phone, by email or online, in English.
What a Calgary ↔ Vancouver move can include
Homes, condos and apartments
Any size of home, from a studio to 4 bedrooms or more; the quote form asks how big the place you are leaving is.
Offices and commercial spaces
Desks, files and office furniture. The form asks for the number of workstations instead of a home size.
Packing help
The form offers three packing levels (none, partial, full); whichever you pick, the team goes over it with you before moving day.
Furniture disassembly
Tell us whether beds, tables or other furniture need to be taken apart and put back together at the other end.
Heavy or unusual items
Pianos, safes or gym equipment: tell us in your request, and the team confirms what is needed before the move.
Loading help only
Driving a rental truck or shipping a container yourself? Ask for a written quote for a crew at your Calgary or Vancouver address.
Storage and vehicle shipping are not part of the booking forms. If your new home will not be ready on your move-out date, say so in your request before you accept a quote.
How a Calgary ↔ Vancouver quote works
- Send the request from the city you are leaving. Moving out of Calgary: open the Calgary quote form. Moving out of Vancouver: open the Vancouver quote form. Choose Long-distance as the move type (or Office/Commercial for an office), pick Another province as the destination and type the city or town you are moving to. Sending the form does not book the move or charge you anything.
- We prepare your quote. The team checks your details and sends you one written flat quote for the whole move.
- You decide. Nothing is booked and no deposit is requested unless you accept the quote. Before you accept, check what it says (the list below) and ask about anything that is unclear, including the pickup and delivery dates.
- Pickup and delivery. Be there, or have someone you trust there, at both ends. At delivery, walk through the rooms and note anything missing or damaged in writing before the crew leaves, with photos.
What we need for an accurate quote
- Both full addresses: the quadrant (NW, NE, SW or SE) for a Calgary address, and the unit number for a condo or apartment.
- Your preferred moving date, and any fixed date at either end, such as a lease end, a possession day or an elevator booking.
- The home size, from a studio to 4 or more bedrooms, or the number of workstations for an office.
- At each address: whether there is an elevator and whether it is booked, the flights of stairs, and how far the door is from the truck.
- Parking and loading at each end: a loading dock, a rear lane, a permit you have applied for, or low clearance.
- Heavy items, your packing level, furniture to take apart and any extra stop.
Check in the written quote before you accept
The federal Office of Consumer Affairs advises getting the costs and terms of a move in writing, with the delivery date and any special-care items included in the quote (its moving advice is linked under what you can check). Before you accept, look for:
- both addresses and your pickup date;
- how the delivery date is set;
- the crew and the services included, such as packing or furniture disassembly;
- any heavy or special-care items;
- the price, plus applicable taxes, and anything priced separately.
We do not publish long-distance prices, transit times or delivery schedules, because each move is quoted on its own details. Your quote is the price for the move it describes, so tell us about changes, such as an extra room or a new delivery address, before you accept it.
Planning the move: roads, clocks and the rules at each end
General information, not legal advice. Each point links to its official page, and rules change, so check the linked page for your date.
Winter on the highways between Calgary and Vancouver
For highway conditions, use the provincial road reports: DriveBC (opens in a new tab), which the Province of British Columbia recommends for highway conditions and weather forecasts, and 511 Alberta (opens in a new tab), which shows road conditions, closures, construction and highway cameras in Alberta. Look at both in the days before your move, and again before you set off if you are driving yourself.
Driving your own vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway through Rogers Pass, in Glacier National Park? Parks Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces close the highway there for avalanche control when conditions call for it. Parks Canada says these closures can last from 2 to 8 hours or longer, that traffic is held in Revelstoke and Golden during longer closures, and that DriveBC has the latest closures and delays (its winter driving in Rogers Pass (opens in a new tab) page).
British Columbia also requires drivers to obey winter tire and chain signs from October 1 to April 30; on some highways outside mountain passes and high-snowfall areas the requirement ends on March 31 (the Province's winter driving page (opens in a new tab)).
For a move in the colder months, keep some room in your plans. Avoid timing the movers, an elevator booking and a key handover at the other end so tightly that one closed highway upsets all three, and tell us about any date you cannot move. We do not publish transit times or delivery dates; ask the team how the pickup and delivery dates are set for your move before you accept the quote.
Mountain Time in Calgary, Pacific Time in Vancouver
Calgary is on Mountain Time (Alberta now calls it Alberta Time, UTC-6) and Vancouver on Pacific Time (UTC-7), and Vancouver clocks are one hour behind Calgary clocks. Both provinces have announced an end to seasonal clock changes: British Columbia (opens in a new tab) made its last change on March 8, 2026 and stays on Pacific Time all year, and Alberta (opens in a new tab) says that beginning in November 2026 its clocks no longer go back, keeping Alberta Time all year. On those two announcements, the one-hour gap stays the same all year.
A request for a move between the two cities asks for your preferred date, not an arrival window, so confirm the pickup and delivery times with the team and say which city's time you mean. Do the same for a key pickup, an elevator slot or a call with someone at the other end. For local bookings, arrival windows are in Mountain Time in the Calgary form and in Pacific Time in the Vancouver form.
Curb space for the truck at both ends
- Vancouver: reserving curb space. Per the City's temporary street occupancy permit page, as checked on October 19, 2026, the permit holds street space for a moving truck when you move in or out, and residents moving in or out of their own address can apply themselves. You apply as the resident; then send us the permit dates and the block.
- Vancouver: timing. The same page said the City needs a minimum of 7 to 10 business days, counted from when it receives payment, to issue the permit, that the signs go up 1 to 2 business days before the start date you request, and that a car parked in the space before the signs go up is not towed, so apply early and plan a backup spot.
- Vancouver: large vehicles. The City's large-vehicles page, as published then, listed moving vans among large vehicles, with a daytime time limit on street parking and no overnight street parking without a permit. Check the City's current pages on temporary street occupancy permits (opens in a new tab) and large vehicles (opens in a new tab) for the lead time, the fee and the limits before your date.
- In Calgary. Curb space for a moving truck or a moving container is reserved with a City Street Use Permit (opens in a new tab), applied for online. A Temporary No Parking permit is issued only together with it, and its signs come from an authorized supplier and go up at least 12 hours ahead. The City asks for several business days' notice, and more for higher-impact locations such as downtown, so apply well before your date.
- Calgary in winter. When the City calls a snow route parking ban, usually one to two days ahead, vehicles have to be moved off its snow routes, the streets with blue snowflake signs, for up to 72 hours. Check both Calgary addresses on the City's snow route map (opens in a new tab), and tell us if either one is on a snow route.
- Elsewhere at either end. In a surrounding community, such as Burnaby, Surrey, Airdrie or Cochrane, that municipality's own parking rules apply. Tell us about the street at both ends in your request.
Strata and condo buildings
Moving into or out of a strata in the Vancouver area? Strata bylaws and rules apply to owners, tenants and the people living with or visiting them, and the strata has to give owners and tenants access to them within one week (Province of British Columbia (opens in a new tab)). Ask the strata manager for the move rules, such as the elevator booking, the times moves are allowed and any move fee, before you choose dates.
At the Calgary end, the owners of the units and anyone in possession of a unit are bound by an Alberta condominium corporation's bylaws (Condominium Property Act (PDF) (opens in a new tab), section 32), so ask the property manager the same questions there. On a long-distance move, ask both buildings early and send us both sets of answers, so the loading and the delivery can be planned around them.
Renters: the move-out time differs by province
Leaving a Calgary rental? In Alberta a tenancy ends at 12 noon on its last day unless you and your landlord agree on another time (Residential Tenancies Act, section 20 (PDF) (opens in a new tab)). Leaving a Vancouver rental? In British Columbia the tenant must be out by 1 p.m. on the day the tenancy ends unless the landlord agrees otherwise (Residential Tenancy Act, section 37 (opens in a new tab)). For a long-distance load on your last day, ask for an early start, or load the day before.
Arriving in Calgary with your car
Moving from Vancouver into a Calgary residential parking zone? Calgary Parking has temporary resident permits for people who haven't updated their vehicle registration yet, valid for up to 90 days if you come from another province (Calgary Parking's residential permit page (opens in a new tab)).
What stays off the truck
Canada's dangerous-goods rules apply to everyone, even to people carrying gasoline or propane for their own use (Transport Canada (opens in a new tab)). Keep jewellery, cash, medication and important documents with you.
Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and Bowen Island
A destination on Vancouver Island, such as Victoria or Nanaimo, or on the Sunshine Coast or Bowen Island, needs a ferry crossing for the truck, which changes scheduling and cost. Name the destination in your request, and the team will tell you whether it can quote that move before you plan around it.
Prices: a written quote for the route, published rates for local moves
Calgary ↔ Vancouver: one written flat quote. In both booking forms, a move between the two cities is a long-distance move. Choose Long-distance as the move type, or Another province as the destination, and the form shows no online price. The team sends one written flat quote for the whole move, and nothing is booked or charged unless you accept it. We publish no long-distance figures.
Where the local area ends. Each booking form prices a move that stays inside its own local area: inside the City of Calgary or the City of Vancouver at an hourly rate, and to, from or between the surrounding communities listed in the form at a flat price for the first 3 hours. Any other destination, elsewhere in Alberta, elsewhere in British Columbia or another province, gets a written quote. The local rates below are the same in Calgary and in Vancouver.
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Crew | Inside the City of Calgary or the City of Vancouver | Minimum | With a listed surrounding community: first 3 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 movers and a truck | $150/hr | 3 hours | $750 flat |
| 3 movers | $195/hr | 3 hours | $950 flat |
| 4 movers | $245/hr | 4 hours | $1,200 flat |
| 5 movers and 2 trucks | $325/hr | 4 hours | $1,600 flat |
- Inside the city a 1-hour travel charge at your crew's hourly rate is added. With a listed community, the hourly rate for your date applies after the flat first 3 hours, and crews of 4 or 5 keep their 4-hour minimum.
- Busy dates (Fridays to Sundays, any date from May to September, and around month-end) can have higher hourly rates. The booking page shows the rate for your date; the flat first 3 hours stay the same on every date.
- Local bookings: once the team confirms availability, you get a payment link for the $105 deposit, and the move is booked when it is paid. Deposits are refundable if you cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your move; inside 48 hours a fee may apply. Packing, heavy items, disassembly and extra stops are confirmed separately.
Full local details are on our Calgary movers and Vancouver movers pages.
What you can check before you choose a mover
For any move, the Government of Canada's Office of Consumer Affairs suggests estimates from at least three movers, the costs and terms in writing, and caution with an estimate given only by phone or a large deposit upfront (its moving advice (opens in a new tab)). How this page answers:
- Written quotes. Every Calgary ↔ Vancouver move is quoted in writing before anything is booked.
- No deposit before you accept. Sending a request does not cost anything.
- Published local rates. The local rate card is on this page, and the booking page shows the rate for your date.
- Liability and claims. The same federal page explains a mover's liability if something is lost or damaged, and the time limits for a claim. Before you accept, ask us what liability applies to your move and how a claim works.
- References. We are new in Calgary and in Vancouver, so we have none on this route to give you yet.
The photos on this page are Men In Trucks company photos from Ottawa, where the company was founded in 2010. They do not show our Calgary or Vancouver office, a local crew or a job on this route.

Where the route starts and ends
Each booking form starts from a pickup inside its own office's local area: the city itself and the communities listed below, each under 100 km by road from that office (OpenStreetMap routing). These are service areas, not office locations, and your quote uses your actual addresses.
The Calgary end
The whole City of Calgary, in all four quadrants, plus these communities listed in the Calgary form: Balzac, Airdrie, Crossfield, Carstairs and Didsbury to the north; Irricana and Beiseker to the northeast; Chestermere, Langdon and Strathmore to the east; Okotoks, High River and Nanton to the south; Priddis, Millarville and Diamond Valley (Black Diamond and Turner Valley) to the southwest; and Springbank, Cochrane and Bragg Creek to the west.
The Vancouver end
The whole City of Vancouver, plus these communities listed in the Vancouver form: West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Lions Bay and Squamish; Burnaby, New Westminster, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Anmore and Belcarra; Richmond; Delta, including Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta; Surrey, including Cloverdale (see Surrey movers); White Rock; Langley City and the Township of Langley, including Fort Langley and Aldergrove; and Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and Mission.
Starting somewhere that is on neither list, such as Canmore, Banff, Kelowna or Kamloops? The online forms take pickups in these two areas only, so call either office to ask about a quote.

Calgary ↔ Vancouver moves: common questions
How much does it cost to move from Calgary to Vancouver?
There is no published figure for this route: every Calgary ↔ Vancouver move is priced in one written flat quote, in either direction. To build it the team uses both addresses, how big your home or office is, your dates, the access at each end and any packing, disassembly or heavy items.
How long does a move between Calgary and Vancouver take?
We do not publish transit times or delivery dates, because each long-distance move is planned on its own details and winter road conditions can change timing on this route. Give your preferred date in the request, add any fixed dates at either end in the notes, and check how the quote sets the delivery date before you accept it.
Who handles a move from Vancouver to Calgary?
Whichever Men In Trucks office receives your request owns the quote. From Vancouver, the quickest way is the Vancouver quote form, which takes pickups in the Vancouver area, or the Vancouver line listed under which team handles your move. For a move from Calgary to Vancouver, use the Calgary quote form. The other office is noted on your request so the two teams can coordinate, and there is no second booking.
What should I plan for on a winter move through the mountains?
Check the provincial road reports, DriveBC for British Columbia and 511 Alberta for Alberta, in the days before your move. If you drive your own vehicle, British Columbia requires drivers to obey winter tire and chain signs from October 1 to April 30, with an earlier end date on some highways, and Parks Canada closes the Trans-Canada Highway through Rogers Pass for avalanche control when conditions call for it. Keep some room in your plans at the other end, and tell us about any date you cannot move.
Is Vancouver in a different time zone from Calgary?
Yes. Calgary is on Mountain Time and Vancouver on Pacific Time, and Vancouver clocks are one hour behind Calgary clocks. Both provinces have announced year-round time without seasonal clock changes, British Columbia since March 2026 and Alberta from November 2026, which keeps that one-hour gap all year. For a move between the two cities, confirm pickup and delivery times with the team and say which city's time you mean.
Do I need a permit for the moving truck in Vancouver?
The City's pages, as checked on October 19, 2026, said a resident moving in or out of their own address can apply for a City temporary street occupancy permit to hold street space for the truck, and that the City needs a minimum of 7 to 10 business days, counted from when it receives payment, to issue the permit, with the signs going up 1 to 2 business days before the start date you request, so apply early. Check the City of Vancouver's current pages for the fee, the lead time and its limits on large vehicles such as moving vans.
What about a move from Calgary to Victoria, Nanaimo or another ferry destination?
A destination on Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast or Bowen Island needs a ferry crossing for the truck, which changes scheduling and cost. Name the destination in your request, and the team will tell you whether it can quote that move before you plan around it.
Is there a deposit for a long-distance move?
Sending the request costs nothing, and a deposit can only come up once you accept the written quote. At that point, ask the team whether one is due and how it is paid before you confirm.
