St. Lawrence corridor moving · ~4 min read · Updated July 2026

Prescott sits where Highway 416 meets the 401 — the crossroads of Eastern Ontario — with Fort Wellington at one end of town and the international bridge to Ogdensburg at the other. Men In Trucks Moving Inc. serves Prescott and the wider Edwardsburgh-Cardinal township — Cardinal, Spencerville, Johnstown — with the same crews that run our Ottawa and Brockville work: our own truck, uniformed movers, and one written quote before load day.

Moves we handle in Prescott and Edwardsburgh-Cardinal

  • Local moves in town — Prescott’s older brick streets near the water, the newer builds up toward the 401, and everything between; apartments, houses and downsizing moves.
  • Cardinal, Spencerville and Johnstown — village and rural moves across the township, including farm properties off the county roads.
  • Up the 416 to Ottawa or Kemptville — the straightest corridor we run; see our Kemptville movers page for the North Grenville end.
  • Along the 401 — Brockville one way, Morrisburg and Cornwall the other; our Brockville movers page covers the neighbouring city.
  • Long-distance from a Prescott address — Toronto, Montreal, out west or down east as a dedicated job via our long-distance service.

How quoting works

Three things set the price: how much is moving, the access at both ends (stairs, elevators, how close the truck can stand), and the distance. We quote from those facts and put one number in writing — the quote number is the invoice number unless the scope genuinely changes. Start at our online quote form, or call 613-800-0917 / email [email protected].

Local knowledge that saves moving-day time

Prescott’s heritage core has the same quirks as any 19th-century river town: tight side streets, tall narrow homes, and staircases that pre-date queen mattresses. We plan those carries at quote time. Out in the township, Cardinal’s streets along the old Galop Canal and Spencerville’s village core are easy truck territory, but farm lanes off the concessions get confirmed for grade and turnaround before load day. And because the 401/416 junction is minutes away, Prescott loads get on the highway faster than almost anywhere else we serve.

Simple flat-rate pricing in Prescott

Every move outside Ottawa is priced the simple way: one flat rate covers your first 3 hours — crew, 26-foot truck, fuel and the trip out, all included — then straight hourly billing after that. No travel-fee math, no fuel surcharge, no surprises on move day.

  • 2 movers + truck — $750 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $150/hr
  • 3 movers + truck — $950 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $195/hr
  • 4 movers + truck — $1,200 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $245/hr
  • 5 movers + 2 trucks — $1,600 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $325/hr

The number we quote in writing is the number on your invoice unless the scope of the move genuinely changes.

Frequently asked questions — Prescott moves

Do you actually service Prescott, or just Ottawa?

We serve Prescott directly — the crew and truck come down the 416 from our Ottawa base, and that leg is built into the quote as a fixed line item. Prescott, Cardinal, Spencerville and Johnstown are all regular territory.

Can you handle a move to or from the United States side?

Cross-border moves over the Ogdensburg bridge involve customs paperwork that’s a different service from domestic moving — call us and we’ll tell you honestly what we can do and what a customs broker needs to handle.

Do you move farm and rural properties?

Yes — shop tools, outbuildings’ contents and long-lane access are normal work for us in the township. Describe the property at quote time and it’s planned before we arrive.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable for summer and month-end dates; more if you’re tied to a fixed closing day. Off-season, shorter notice usually works.

Can you store everything between closings?

Yes — storage-in-transit in our secure Ottawa warehouse bridges the gap between closings, all under one quote.
