Men In Trucks Moving Inc. is an Ottawa-based, owner-operated moving company that has served families across the Ottawa Valley since 2010. We don’t keep a branch in Renfrew County — we run our own trucks, our own crews and our own Ottawa warehouse, and we travel up the Highway 17 corridor to reach you. Whether you’re moving to a riverfront property near Pembroke, downsizing in Renfrew or relocating to Garrison Petawawa, the same MIT crew loads your home in Ottawa and unloads it in the Valley.

The Highway 17 Ottawa Valley corridor

The Ottawa Valley follows the Ottawa River northwest of the city, threading through Renfrew County along Highway 417 as it becomes Highway 17. It’s a long, linear region — our crews know it by the kilometre. Arnprior sits roughly 55 km out and is usually a same-day round trip. Renfrew is around 100 km, with Cobden and Eganville a little further into the county. Pembroke is about 150 km up the river, Petawawa near 160 km, and Deep River and Chalk River sit at the upper end of the corridor. On the Valley’s Ottawa-facing edge, the Mississippi Mills communities of Almonte and Carleton Place are an easy reach.

Because every Valley move starts from our Ottawa base, distance matters to how a day is planned — not just for the drive, but for crew time, fuel and how much we can realistically load and deliver in a single trip. We build that reality into every quote up front so there are no surprises when the truck pulls into a long gravel laneway in Renfrew County.

Ottawa Valley towns we serve

We move households throughout the Valley and into the towns and townships along the river. Each of the pages below covers local routes, access and pricing in more detail:

  • Arnprior — the gateway to the Valley where the Madawaska meets the Ottawa River
  • Renfrew — the hub of central Renfrew County
  • Pembroke — the largest centre in the upper Valley
  • Petawawa — home to Garrison Petawawa and CFB families
  • Almonte and Carleton Place — the Mississippi Mills edge closest to Ottawa

We also regularly serve Cobden, Eganville, Deep River and Chalk River along the same corridor — dedicated pages for these communities are on the way. If your town isn’t listed, it’s almost certainly still on our route; just ask when you call.

Valley move types we specialize in

Moves in the Ottawa Valley don’t look like a downtown apartment shuffle, and we plan for that.

Cottage and seasonal moves. The Valley is cottage country, and we handle seasonal openings, closings and full cottage relocations along the Ottawa River and inland lakes — including the awkward furniture, docks-adjacent storage and the reality that a “driveway” may be a few hundred metres of dirt.

Rural and river properties. Long laneways, country acreages and waterfront homes are routine for us. We scout access ahead of time, bring the right equipment for soft ground or tight turns, and plan around winter conditions when a laneway hasn’t seen a plow.

Military relocations to and from Garrison Petawawa. Posting season is a busy stretch in the upper Valley. We’re set up for Canadian Armed Forces moves into and out of Petawawa — organized inventories, firm scheduling and the kind of careful documentation a posting requires.

Retiree downsizing and estate moves. A great many Valley moves are families right-sizing into a smaller home or sorting out a farm or estate property. We work at a patient pace, and our senior moving service is built around exactly this kind of careful, unhurried day.

Transparent Ottawa Valley pricing

Our residential moving rates are the same proven hourly structure we use across the Ottawa area:

  • 2 movers — $150/hour
  • 3 movers — $195/hour
  • 4 movers — $245/hour
  • 5 movers — $325/hour

Because we’re coming from our Ottawa base, a Valley move also carries a corridor travel charge that covers crew time and fuel for the run up the highway. We itemize it clearly on your quote, and it scales with how far up the Valley you’re going — an Arnprior move carries a much smaller travel charge than a Pembroke or Petawawa one. A typical Valley move is a two-to-four-person crew for a country home, with the right crew size set to the size of your home and the distance involved. Whatever the profile, the number you’re quoted is the number you’re invoiced — your quote number is your invoice number unless the scope of the move changes materially.

Why Ottawa Valley families choose Men In Trucks

When the same company that quoted your move is the one that shows up, things go smoothly. That’s how we’ve worked since 2010.

  • No subcontractors, no co-loading. Your belongings travel on our truck, with our crew, the whole way — we never hand your move to a third party or share the trailer with someone else’s shipment.
  • Our own fleet and warehouse. We own our trucks and operate an Ottawa warehouse, which makes storage, staging and flexible Valley scheduling straightforward.
  • Fully licensed and insured. We carry liability, cargo and WSIB coverage, so your home and our crew are protected on every job.
  • 15+ years of Ottawa-area moves. Owner-operated since 2010, with deep experience on the routes and properties the Valley is known for.
  • Honest, itemized quotes. Your quote number is your invoice number unless the scope changes materially — no padded final bills.

Frequently asked questions — Ottawa Valley moves

How does the travel fee change the further up the Valley I’m going?

The corridor travel charge reflects the crew time and fuel to reach you from our Ottawa base, so it scales with distance. A move to Arnprior (~55 km) carries a modest charge; Renfrew (~100 km) more; and Pembroke or Petawawa (~150–160 km) more again. It’s always itemized on your quote before you book, so you can see exactly what the trip up the highway costs.

Can you handle cottage, seasonal and winter-access moves?

Yes. Cottage and seasonal moves are a Valley staple for us, and we plan around the access challenges that come with them — long or unplowed laneways, soft ground, tight turns and waterfront properties. For winter moves we confirm access ahead of time and bring the right equipment so the day stays on schedule.

Do you do military moves to and from Garrison Petawawa?

We do. We handle Canadian Armed Forces relocations into and out of Garrison Petawawa with detailed inventories, firm scheduling around posting season and the documentation a military move calls for. Reach out early during peak posting months so we can lock in your dates.

How far ahead should I book a summer Valley move?

Summer is our busiest season, and Valley dates fill quickly — month-end and posting-season weekends fastest of all. Aim to book a few weeks ahead for summer, and as early as you can if your date is fixed. The sooner we have your details, the better the crew and timing we can hold for you.

Can a large rural property be a two-day move?

Yes. Bigger country homes, farms and estate properties — especially with long laneways and distance up the corridor — sometimes work best as a two-day move, with loading one day and delivery the next. We’ll tell you up front if that’s the smart plan for your home and build it into a single clear quote.
