Moving services in Surrey
Houses and townhomes
Detached houses and townhomes, with the basement, the garage and any secondary suite in the same plan. Say whether the truck can park in your driveway or has to use a back lane.
Strata condos and apartments
Your strata sets the move rules for its building. We work to your elevator reservation and to the move times the strata allows.
Offices and commercial spaces
Office furniture, desks and files for Surrey businesses, set out in a written plan and scheduled around the building's elevator and loading rules.
Packing and unpacking help
The booking form offers three packing choices: none, partial or full. The Vancouver team goes over your choice with you before move day.
Small moves and single items
A short list of furniture, or one item, uses the same rate card as every other Surrey move.
Loading and unloading labour
Already have a rental truck, or a moving container in the driveway? A Men In Trucks crew can load or unload it; ask for a written quote. A container on the street needs a City request first (see the rules below).
Heavy or unusual items
Piano, safe or home gym equipment? Tell us in your request, and the team confirms what is needed before the move.
Surrey moving prices: flat for the first 3 hours
These are our published rates for moves in and around Surrey, plus applicable taxes. The price covers the crew, the truck and the time.
| Crew | First 3 hours | After 3 hours, from | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 movers and a truck | $750 flat | $150/hr | 3 hours |
| 3 movers and a truck | $950 flat | $195/hr | 3 hours |
| 4 movers and a truck | $1,200 flat | $245/hr | 4 hours |
| 5 movers and 2 trucks | $1,600 flat | $325/hr | 4 hours |
When the flat price applies. Surrey and Cloverdale are listed as surrounding communities in the booking form. When one address is in Surrey and the other is in the City of Vancouver or in any community listed in the form, including another Surrey address, the first 3 hours are the flat price for your crew, then the hourly rate applies. Crews of 4 or 5 movers keep their 4-hour minimum, so their fourth hour is billed at the hourly rate.
Busy dates. The flat price for the first 3 hours is the same on every date. The hourly rate after that can be higher on busy dates (Friday to Sunday, May to September and around month-end), and the booking page shows the rate for your date before you send anything.
Example, not an average. 2 movers take 5 hours to move a one-bedroom condo from Surrey to Burnaby on a date outside the busy dates: the $750 flat for the first 3 hours, then 2 hours at $150/hr, plus applicable taxes. On a busy date only the hours after the first 3 can cost more, and the booking page shows that rate for your date.
Not the same as a move inside Vancouver. A move that starts and ends in the City of Vancouver is billed by the hour instead, with a minimum and a 1-hour travel charge: see the Vancouver rates.
Outside the listed areas. If the other address is not in a community listed in the booking form, for example Chilliwack, Whistler or another province, you get one written flat quote instead. Destinations that need a ferry, such as Vancouver Island, are quoted separately.
Deposit and cancellation. Booking is a request: the Vancouver team confirms availability, then sends a payment link for the $105 deposit, and your move is booked once it is paid. Deposits are refundable if you cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your move; inside 48 hours a fee may apply.
Quoted separately. Packing, heavy items such as pianos and safes, and extra stops are confirmed with you before the move.
Moving day in Surrey: City rules to know before you book
Below are the City of Surrey's and the Province's rules as their pages read on 14 October 2026: where the truck or container can stand, what your strata allows, and what to do with things you are not taking. Rules change, so the linked official pages are the authority (they open in a new tab).
Where the truck can park and load
- Residential streets. The City's parking page says anybody may legally park on a residential street unless signs say otherwise, and no vehicle may stay in the same spot on a public street for more than 72 hours. Trucks have their own rules, below.
- Rules without signs. Parking rules apply whether or not there is a sign. A vehicle may not park within 5 metres of a fire hydrant, in front of a driveway or within 1.5 metres of either side of one, within 15 metres of the approach to a crosswalk, or within 6 metres of the end of a curb return at an intersection. The City says curb markings should not be treated as a legal requirement, so do not go by paint.
- Back lanes. The City says parking in a back lane is generally permitted as long as pedestrians, vehicles and garbage trucks can still see and get through, but that many lanes are not wide enough for parking or have driveways too close together. Tell us if the truck can load from a lane or from your driveway.
- Truck parking. The City says trucks over 5,000 kg, by the gross vehicle weight on the truck's licence, may park only in certain zones of the City or at designated truck parking facilities. Heavy trucks (over 11,800 kg on the same measure) must use the Truck Route Network except for local deliveries, and may park off a truck route only temporarily while making a delivery. Renting a truck yourself? Ask the rental company for that weight.
- Closing a road or sidewalk. Temporarily closing any road, cycling or pedestrian facility needs a City Traffic Obstruction Permit, with a traffic management plan in the application. For a home move, plan a legal spot that leaves the road, the sidewalk and any bike lane open.
- Holding curb space. The City of Surrey pages we checked do not describe a permit to reserve street parking for a moving truck, and the trucks page does not mention moving trucks or loading. Tell us in your request where the truck can stop: your driveway, the street in front, a back lane or your building's loading area.
The City's current pages: parking, parking where there are no signs, trucks and oversize vehicles and the Traffic Obstruction Permit.

Moving containers on the street
If a container for moving or storage has to sit on a road, boulevard or other public property, the City requires a request before it is placed there, submitted at least 5 working days ahead of the date. The City encourages residents to use private property, such as a driveway. A container on the road has to leave at least 4 metres of roadway clear for emergency vehicles, and a spot with No Parking or No Stopping signs is generally refused. Several of the requirements apply to the company that provides the container, so ask that company who files the request (City of Surrey container and bin requirements). Loading your own container? Our crew can do the lifting: ask for loading help in a written quote.
Strata buildings and townhome complexes
If your condo or townhome is in a strata, its bylaws and rules cover the use of common property and apply to tenants as well as owners. Ask the strata manager for the move rules, such as the elevator booking, the times moves are allowed and any move fee, before you pick a date: the strata has to give owners and tenants access to its bylaws and rules within one week (BC strata bylaws and rules). Where a strata charges a user fee for common property, the Strata Property Regulation says the fee has to be reasonable and set out in a bylaw or a ratified rule, so ask whether any move fee is in one. Ask too what the building needs from your moving company before move day. Once the elevator is booked, send us the slot and that list.
Renters: a full rental month of notice, and out by 1 p.m.
If you rent month to month, count a full rental month back from your move-out date: BC requires your landlord to receive the written notice before the day rent is due, one complete rental month ahead, which is more than 30 days. Sign the letter and include your name, the unit address, the date you write it and the date you will leave (BC rules for ending a tenancy). The Act sets 1 p.m. on the last day of the tenancy as the time to be out, unless your landlord agrees to something else (Residential Tenancy Act, section 37); a morning arrival window leaves the most room.
Things you are not taking: Surrey's Large Item Pickup
Furniture or appliances you leave behind cannot simply go to the curb: the City says items set out without a scheduled pickup may be treated as illegal dumping and fined. Its Large Item Pickup Program takes up to 6 items a year from households with City waste collection (8 with a registered secondary suite) and up to 4 a year from apartment buildings with City recycling, booked by the property manager or strata. Unused pickups do not carry over. Book online or by phone, set the items out by 7:30am on the pickup day, and cancel at least 2 business days before if plans change. The program does not take items such as hot tubs, mirrors, toilets, sinks or propane tanks; for those, the City says to check with Metro Vancouver for where to recycle or donate them, and it asks you to take glass removed from furniture, such as glass tabletops or dresser mirrors, to the Central Surrey or North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre (Large Item Pickup Program). Book the pickup for a day before you hand over the keys.
If it snows on moving day
Clear a path from the door to the truck as well as the sidewalk. The City of Surrey asks residents to clear snow from the sidewalks around their property before 10am after a snowfall, and to avoid parking on the street so plows and salt trucks have room to work (winter snow and ice control).
What stays off the truck
Federal dangerous-goods rules apply to everyone who transports items such as gasoline or propane (Transport Canada).

Where we move in Surrey
The City says Surrey is made up of six communities: Whalley and City Centre (North Surrey), Guildford, Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale and South Surrey, and our Surrey moves cover all of them (City of Surrey: our communities). Choose Surrey in the booking form for any of them except Cloverdale, which the form lists on its own.
Surrey is about 26.9 km by road (OpenStreetMap routing) from our office, and Cloverdale about 42.8 km by road (OpenStreetMap routing). Each distance runs from our Vancouver office to the map point OpenStreetMap uses for that place. Surrey covers a large area, so the team plans from your actual addresses.
White Rock and Delta are separate cities
Surrey, White Rock and Delta are separate municipalities, so an address in one is not in the others: Metro Vancouver lists the City of Surrey, the City of White Rock and the City of Delta as members in their own right (Metro Vancouver member jurisdictions). The City rules on this page are the City of Surrey's and apply in Surrey only; for a White Rock or Delta address, check that city's own pages. In the booking form, choose White Rock for a White Rock address; for an address in Delta, choose Delta, or Ladner, Tsawwassen or North Delta, which the form lists on their own.
Moves between Surrey and nearby communities
Moves between Surrey and these places use the same flat-then-hourly prices, because each is listed in the booking form: Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, Delta (with Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta), White Rock, Langley City, the Township of Langley (with Fort Langley and Aldergrove), Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and Abbotsford. These are service areas, not office locations. The full list is on our Vancouver movers page.

How a Surrey move works
Sending the form is a request, not a charge.
- Send a booking request or ask for a written quote. Choose Surrey, or Cloverdale, as the pickup or destination city, and the booking page shows the price for your crew and date before you send it.
- We confirm availability. The Vancouver team checks your details and contacts you by phone or email to confirm the date, the arrival window, the crew and anything priced separately.
- You pay the deposit. We send a payment link for the $105 deposit, and your move is booked once it is paid.
- Line up the building, the curb and the container. Book your strata's elevator, book any Large Item Pickup, and if a container needs the street, make sure the City request goes in at least 5 working days ahead. Then tell us where the truck can load.
- Moving day. Furniture is padded and wrapped, then loaded, moved and placed in the rooms you choose. Walk through each room before the crew leaves, and note any damage in writing with photos.
What we need for an accurate quote
- Both addresses with unit numbers, and the city each one is in. Surrey, White Rock and Delta are separate cities, and the booking form lists Cloverdale on its own.
- Your home size or a short inventory. For an office, the number of workstations.
- Access at both ends: floor, stairs or elevator, whether the elevator is booked, and the carry from the door to the truck.
- Where the truck can stop: driveway, street, back lane or loading area, and any container on the street.
- Heavy or unusual items, your packing level, furniture to take apart and any extra stop.
What you can check before you book
The Government of Canada's moving advice says to get the costs and terms of your move in writing, and it lists warning signs such as no physical address, an estimate by phone and not in writing, and a large deposit upfront (Office of Consumer Affairs moving advice). The federal page lists more, so use its full checklist on us and on any other mover. What you can check on this page:
- Published rates. The Surrey rate card and minimums are on this page, and the booking page shows the price for your date.
- Paper trail before move day. You receive a written quote or a booking confirmation before the move, and any change to it is also confirmed in writing.
- No deposit until we confirm. The deposit is requested only after the Vancouver team confirms availability.
- One set of contact details. Compare the email you receive after a request with this page: it carries the same Vancouver office address, phone number and inbox.
Consumer Protection BC also suggests getting an estimate in writing and asking how deposits work (its tips on choosing a moving company).
Long-distance moves from and to Surrey
A move from Surrey to anywhere not listed in the booking form gets one written flat quote, built from your inventory, the access at both ends and your dates. Nothing is booked unless you accept it. Choose Long-distance in the booking form or ask for a written quote.
Moving to Surrey from farther away? The booking form starts from a pickup address in the Vancouver area, so call (778) 200-0116 or email [email protected] and we quote it. Coming from a city with its own Men In Trucks team? See Ottawa to Vancouver movers (Ottawa team) or Edmonton to Vancouver movers (Edmonton team), or our Calgary movers page (Calgary team) for a move from Calgary.
Surrey moving questions
How much do movers cost in Surrey?
Moves within Surrey, or between Surrey and Vancouver or another community in our booking form, start with a flat price for the first 3 hours: $750 for 2 movers and a truck, $950 for 3 movers, $1,200 for 4 movers and $1,600 for 5 movers with 2 trucks, plus applicable taxes. After that, the hourly rate for your crew and date applies, from $150/hr for 2 movers. Crews of 4 or 5 movers have a 4-hour minimum.
Is a Surrey move priced like a move inside Vancouver?
No. A move that starts and ends in the City of Vancouver is billed by the hour, with a minimum and a 1-hour travel charge. A Surrey move to or from Vancouver or a listed community has a flat price for the first 3 hours, the same on every date, and then the hourly rate for your date.
How far ahead should I book movers in Surrey?
As soon as your date is firm, especially for a busy date (Friday to Sunday, May to September or around month-end). Some Surrey steps have their own lead times: a City request for a container on the street goes in at least 5 working days ahead, your strata has to give owners and tenants access to its bylaws and rules within one week, and if you rent month to month, your landlord must receive your written notice at least one full rental month ahead.
What size crew do I need for a Surrey house?
Take the booking form's suggestion as a first pass: 2 movers for a studio or 1 bedroom, 3 movers for 2 bedrooms, 4 for 3 bedrooms, and 5 movers with 2 trucks for 4 bedrooms or more. You can choose another crew size. The suggestion goes by bedrooms alone, so list a secondary suite, basement or garage in the form's special instructions. The Vancouver team confirms the crew with you before any deposit is requested.
Do I need a permit to park a moving truck in Surrey?
The City of Surrey pages we checked in October 2026 do not describe a permit for holding curb space for a moving truck. They do limit where trucks can park: a truck over 5,000 kg, by the gross vehicle weight on its licence, may park only in certain zones or at designated truck parking facilities, and a heavy truck may park off a truck route only temporarily while making a delivery. The general parking rules also apply without a sign, such as no parking within 5 metres of a fire hydrant. See where the truck can park and load.
Can I leave a moving container on the street in Surrey?
Only with the City's approval. A request has to be submitted at least 5 working days before a container for moving or storage is placed on a road, boulevard or other public property, and the City encourages residents to use private property, such as a driveway, instead. Several requirements apply to the company that provides the container, so ask that company who files the request.
Are White Rock and Delta part of Surrey?
No. Surrey, White Rock and Delta are separate cities, each a member of Metro Vancouver in its own right, and the City of Surrey rules on this page apply in Surrey only. In the booking form, choose White Rock, or Delta, Ladner, Tsawwassen or North Delta. Prices work the same way as for Surrey.
What can I do with furniture I am not taking?
Book a pickup instead of leaving it at the curb: the City of Surrey says items set out without a scheduled pickup may be treated as illegal dumping and fined. Households with City waste collection can book up to 6 items a year through the Large Item Pickup Program (8 with a registered secondary suite); apartment buildings book through their property manager or strata.
How does the deposit work, and can I cancel?
No payment is taken when you send the form. After the Vancouver team confirms availability, we send a payment link for the $105 deposit, and your move is booked once it is paid. Deposits are refundable if you cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your move; inside 48 hours a fee may apply.
