Inputs
What changes your estimate
A moving estimate starts from the details you send. These are the things that move it.
- Crew size. Two, three, four or five movers. Each crew size has its own hourly rate.
- Truck. A truck sized to your load (16, 20 or 26 ft). 5 movers come with 2 trucks.
- Your date. Weekend and peak dates can cost more. The booking page shows the rate for the date you pick.
- Access. Stairs, elevators and long carries add time, so tell us about access at both ends.
- Inside or outside Ottawa. Inside the city, the hourly card. Outside it, including Gatineau, the flat first 3 hours, then hourly.
- Heavy items. Pianos, safes, gym equipment and other heavy items get a separate quote because they need extra crew and equipment.

What a written moving quote should show
Get every moving company quote in writing, not over the phone. Ours arrives by email, and we always show you the line items before you confirm a deposit.
What our written quote lists
- Crew and truck size
- The hourly rate for your date
- An estimated range of hours
- The one-hour travel fee, as its own line
- The deposit that holds your date
- A note that final billing is by actual time on site
- Available dates
- Our phone number, (613) 800-0917
For long distance, it is one flat price plus HST, with the list of what is included.
Comparing quotes
When you compare moving quotes, line them up on the same points: crew size, truck, the hourly rate for your date, how travel is charged and how the final bill is worked out. Ask each mover for a certificate of insurance.
Still choosing a mover? Read our comparison of Ottawa moving companies.
Part of every local move
- Fuel is included in the hourly rate.
- Moving blankets and floor protection are part of every move.
- Floor runners, dollies, straps and mattress bags come on the job.
- Your crew takes standard furniture apart and puts it back together; that time is part of the hourly job.
- We can provide a certificate of insurance for your building on request.

Notes At quote time
Questions at quote time
What do you need from me for a quote?
Your move date, the size of your home, both addresses, the access at each end (stairs, elevator, a long walk to the truck) and any heavy items, such as a piano or a safe. Only your name, email and phone are required.
How close is the estimate to the final bill?
Inside Ottawa, your quote estimates a range of hours from the details you send, and the bill is the actual time on site, plus the one-hour travel fee and HST. Tell us about stairs, elevators and large items and the range gets tighter.
Is the quote a fixed price?
Inside Ottawa, no: your quote gives the hourly rate for your date and an estimated range of hours, and you pay for the actual time on site. A long-distance move gets one written flat-rate, not-to-exceed price plus HST, built from your inventory, route and dates.
Does my move date change the quote?
It can: weekend and peak dates can cost more. We can estimate the crew and hours before you choose a date, and the booking page shows the rate for the date you pick. If you change your date, we keep your crew configuration and confirm the rate for the new date.
Can I get a quote without a phone call?
Yes. Choose Text or Email as your preferred contact method in the form and we reply that way. The form still asks for a phone number.
Do you need to see my home first?
Most local moves are quoted from the details you send. For a long-distance move, we build the quote from your inventory, route and dates.
Do you quote moves outside Ottawa?
Yes. Outside Ottawa, including Gatineau, the first 3 hours are a flat $750, $950, $1,200 or $1,600 for 2, 3, 4 or 5 movers, plus tax, then hourly. Long-distance moves anywhere in Canada get one written flat-rate quote. We don’t quote international or US moves.
