Furniture Delivery Ottawa — Same-Day Pickup & Drop-Off for IKEA, Marketplace, Costco & Specialty Pieces
Why Ottawa picks Men In Trucks for furniture delivery
Most moving companies in Ottawa won’t touch a one-piece job — they want full-service moves with 4-hour minimums and inflated weekend rates. We built our furniture-delivery service for the gap: one couch, one fridge, one IKEA cart full of flat-packs. Our 2-mover team rolls up in a 16-ft enclosed truck with the right gear (moving blankets, four-wheel dollies, two-wheelers, ratchet straps, shoulder-harness lift straps, and door protectors) and handles the whole run end-to-end.
We’re a fully-insured, locally-owned Ottawa moving company — not a TaskRabbit relay or a guy with a pickup. Every job carries cargo insurance, the trucks are wrapped and tracked, and our crews wear MIT branded shirts so you know who’s at your door. Read more about our Ottawa moving service.

Frequently asked questions — furniture delivery Ottawa
How much does furniture delivery cost in Ottawa?
Most single-piece deliveries inside Ottawa run $200–$320 all-in (1.5–2 hours at $150/hr plus deposit reconciliation). Multi-stop runs (2–3 pickups) typically land $360–$540. Specialty items like pianos or gun safes are quoted individually due to gear and crew requirements. We charge by the hour, not by the kilometer, so you don’t pay extra for traffic.
What is the minimum charge for a single-item pickup?
One hour at $150 plus the $100 deposit applied to your invoice. You only pay for the time we’re on the clock — if your job finishes in 45 minutes, we still bill the 1-hour minimum, but if it runs to 1 hr 15 min, we bill in 15-minute increments after the first hour, never in full-hour blocks.
Do you assemble the furniture after delivery?
Light assembly (bed frames, simple IKEA dressers, dining tables) is included on the clock at standard hourly rate. Complex builds (PAX wardrobes, BESTA wall systems, Murphy beds, custom shelving) are best booked as a separate packing & assembly service with a longer time window. Tell us at booking and we’ll plan the crew accordingly.
Can you deliver same day?
Yes — if you book before noon and a crew is available, we run same-day in Ottawa core 6 days a week. After-12pm bookings often slot into evening (5–9pm) windows. Sunday same-day depends on Saturday bookings. For guaranteed same-day, book by 9am.
What about pianos, gun safes, hot tubs — do you move those?
Yes, with the specialty crew (3–4 movers, $245/hr, dedicated piano boards or safe dollies). Uprights and console pianos are routine; baby grands and grands need site photos & entry-path measurements before quoting. Gun safes up to 1000 lbs and hot tubs up to 850 lbs are within scope. Send photos when booking and we’ll confirm crew size + price within 30 minutes.
Are you insured if something gets damaged?
Yes — $2M cargo and general liability through a Canadian commercial carrier. Standard coverage is $0.60/lb per article (Canadian moving-industry default). For high-value items (designer furniture, antiques, art) you can declare value at booking for full-replacement coverage at a small premium. Damage claims are rare (under 0.5% of jobs in 2025) and resolved within 14 days.
How early should I book for a Saturday delivery?
Saturdays in Ottawa book out 48–72 hours in advance, especially in summer (May–September). For a guaranteed Saturday morning slot, book by Wednesday noon. Same-week Saturday afternoons are usually possible up to Friday 5pm but availability shrinks fast. Sunday slots are easier — usually bookable 24 hours ahead.
Do you do apartment-building deliveries with elevator booking?
Absolutely. Tell us the building name and floor at booking and our dispatch will confirm elevator-pad rules with the property manager. Most Ottawa condos require booking the freight elevator 48 hours ahead — we can coordinate this for you, or you book it and email us the time slot. See our Ottawa apartment movers page for elevator-and-stairs details.
What if my new piece doesn’t fit through the door?
Our crew measures every doorway, hallway, and stairwell on arrival. If a piece won’t fit, we explore: leg removal (sofas), door-removal (front entry), upper-floor balcony hoist (rare, requires advance arrangement), or in worst case, we return it to seller — you pay only the time on the clock. We’ll never force a piece through a tight space and risk damage.

About a third of the furniture deliveries we run each week start at a retail loading dock — IKEA Pinecrest, The Brick Coventry, Leon’s Vanier, Costco Innes, or a Wayfair freight terminal. The other two-thirds are inter-residential (estate, gift, swap, dorm). Both lanes have the same rate structure but different paperwork. Here’s how we handle each.

Pickup, transport, threshold drop. 2 movers, 140/hr, 2-hr minimum. Best for assembled IKEA pieces, individual gift drops, or single-piece estate transfers.
Pickup, transport, in-room placement, full assembly, packaging removal. 2–3 movers, 140–180/hr. Adds 30–90 min depending on piece (PAX wardrobe = 75 min; standard dresser = 25 min).
Same as standard or white-glove, plus we provide a Certificate of Insurance to the dock 48 hrs before pickup. Standard at The Brick, Leon’s, Costco, Wayfair — required by their loading-dock policy. No additional fee.
Single truck, multiple drop-offs in one route (estate distribution, family swaps). Hourly continues, no per-stop surcharge.

4 new questions about furniture delivery in Ottawa
How much extra does white-glove assembly add?
Assembly adds 25–90 minutes per piece on top of standard delivery time. At our 140/hr rate that is 58–210 per piece — typically cheaper than the retailer’s own assembly service (IKEA’s TaskRabbit partners typically quote 50/hr with a 2-hr minimum + travel). Most-common assemblies and our average times: standard dresser 25 min, PAX wardrobe 75 min, queen platform bed 35 min, dining table with leaf 30 min, sectional sofa 45 min, sit-stand desk 20 min.
Will you provide a Certificate of Insurance for retail-store pickups?
Yes. Most Ottawa retail loading docks (The Brick, Leon’s, Costco, Wayfair, Hudson’s Bay) require a COI listing their store address as an additional insured party before they will release freight to a third-party mover. We email a 2,000,000 cargo + 5,000,000 commercial general liability COI to the dock 48 hours before pickup. No extra charge — it is built into our standard policy. Just include the store’s pickup confirmation number when you book.
Do weekend deliveries cost more?
No — Saturday delivery runs at the same 140/hr (2 movers) or 180/hr (3 movers) as a weekday. Saturday peak-season slots (May–August month-end weekends) book 7–10 days in advance, so book early. Sunday delivery is available with 48-hr lead time at standard rates. See the full Ottawa moving cost guide for weekend booking lead times.
What happens if my furniture is damaged during delivery?
Our 2,000,000 cargo insurance covers the replacement cost of damaged items at the time of delivery, with damage logged on a signed bill-of-lading. The claim window is 7 days from delivery date with photos. Pre-existing damage (scratches from the retail dock, manufacturer defects) is documented at pickup with a 2-minute photo walkthrough — that protects you from being blamed for damage we did not cause and us from being blamed for damage we did. Claims are paid within 14 business days of approval.
