How the estimate works
How do you estimate hours?
We use a cubic-foot total based on your inventory, divided by the productivity of your recommended crew (a 2-man crew loads about 150 cu ft/hr, a 3-man crew about 220 cu ft/hr, a 4-man crew about 300 cu ft/hr), plus a flat hour for drive and final placement. Then we adjust for conditions on move day: stairs, missing elevators, long carries, distance, and packing. The quarter-hour billing means you pay for what’s actually used — most Ottawa moves land within 15 minutes of this estimate.
Why a price range instead of one number?
Real moves have real variance. The low end assumes your crew moves a little faster than average (good weather, organized packing, no surprises). The high end allows for a normal bit of slowdown (bulky hallway, awkward stair turn, an item heavier than expected). We bill to the quarter-hour either way — if you land in the middle, you pay the middle. The range just sets honest expectations up front.
What’s included in the hourly rate?
Trained movers, the fully-equipped truck (blankets, straps, tools, dollies, wardrobe boxes), fuel, and basic liability insurance. No fuel surcharge, no stair fee, no fridge/washer disconnect fee. See the full rate card at /store/.
What if my real move is bigger/smaller than the estimate?
You’re billed for actual time worked, to the quarter-hour — not the estimate. If you move faster, you pay less. If it runs longer (e.g. a surprise snowstorm), you only pay for the extra quarter-hours. The 3-hour minimum applies on every crew tier.
Can I save my inventory and come back later?

Why recommend a 3-man crew over a 2-man?
For anything larger than a true 1-bedroom apartment, a 3-man crew almost always costs less in total because they finish in about 40% less time. On a typical 2-bedroom move, a 2-man crew runs 7–8 hours at $140 = $980–$1,120. A 3-man crew finishes in 5 hours at $180 = $900. You save money AND get home 2 hours sooner.
What’s the $100 deposit for?
It reserves your crew on the day you want, locks in today’s rate, and is fully refundable if you need to reschedule with 48+ hours notice (or credited forward if you reschedule closer in). It’s not an extra charge — it applies to the final invoice. We take the deposit via secure Square link after you confirm the booking details.
