Flat-Rate Moving Outside Ottawa: One Price for Your First 3 Hours

For years, pricing an out-of-town move meant a small math lesson: an hourly crew rate, plus a travel fee, plus a per-kilometre calculation past a certain radius. It was honest — but it made people do algebra before they could answer the only question that matters: “what will this cost me?”
So we simplified it. As of this month, every move outside Ottawa is priced the same simple way: one flat rate covers your first 3 hours — crew, 26-foot truck, fuel and the trip out, all included — then straight hourly billing after that.
The flat rates, in plain numbers
- 2 movers + truck — $750 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $150/hr
- 3 movers + truck — $950 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $195/hr
- 4 movers + truck — $1,200 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $245/hr
- 5 movers + 2 trucks — $1,600 + tax for the first 3 hours, then $325/hr
That’s the whole model. No travel-fee math, no fuel surcharge, no per-kilometre meter, and no surprise line items on move day. The number we quote in writing is the number on your invoice unless the scope of the move genuinely changes. Moves inside Ottawa keep our regular hourly rates.
What “first 3 hours” actually buys you
A two-bedroom move in a town like Cornwall, Kemptville or Gananoque very often fits inside three working hours once the crew is at your door — load, drive across town, unload. For those moves, the flat rate effectively is the price. Bigger homes simply continue on the hourly rate after hour three, and we tell you the realistic total hours before you book, in writing.

Why we did this
Three reasons. First, transparency: a single number beats a formula. Second, fairness: the flat rate is the same whether your street is paved or gravel, whether the highway was clear or jammed — the risk of the drive is ours, not yours. Third, honesty about how small-town moves actually work: most local movers in these towns subcontract or pass through opaque travel charges. We publish the number instead.
